What NearbyCharger is
NearbyCharger is a classified-listings board for peer-to-peer EV charging. People publish listings for charging at their premises; others discover nearby listings and contact the lister directly. The app does not process payments and is not a party to any transaction, interaction, or dispute between users.
Information we collect
- Location — your device location is used, with your permission, to show chargers near you and to place the pin when you post a listing. Your live location is used on-device and is not stored on our servers.
- Listing data you post — when you publish a listing we store exactly what you enter: your name, contact phone number, listing title, description, connector type, price, and the location you pin. This data is public — showing it to other users is the purpose of a classified listing.
- Anonymous device identity — the app creates an anonymous Firebase Authentication session (no email, name, or password) so only the device that posted a listing can edit or delete it.
What we do not collect
- No accounts, emails, or passwords.
- No payment or financial information — payments never pass through the app.
- No advertising identifiers; no data is sold or shared with advertisers.
Services we rely on
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore) stores listings.
- OpenStreetMap / CARTO / Nominatim provide map tiles, geocoding, and place search; map requests include your IP address and the map area viewed, per their respective privacy policies.
Data retention & deletion
Listings remain published until the posting device deletes them from the My Spots tab. To request removal of a listing or of data you posted, contact us and include the listing title and phone number shown on it.
Children
NearbyCharger is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
